For this video guitar lesson, I used a program called “Guitar Pro” along with my screen capture software to create a video in which I sing along with the guitar tab. The song is “Catch the Wind” by Donovan who was a popular folk music artist from the 1960s and 70s.
The purpose of this lesson is all about the timing. Specifically, how the song’s lyrics should “sync” with the guitar strumming pattern and vice versa. Note that the guitar tab includes symbols which represent the upstrokes and downstrokes of the strumming pattern. = downstroke and = upstroke.
Also notice, that specific syllables of each of the words in the lyrics match up with specific upstrokes and downstrokes of the guitar strumming pattern throughout the song.
